Change the logging option for the Lightweight AP

Hi,

For my AP I can see the logging option enable for a host:

# show running-config

[...]

logging snmp-trap debugging
logging 10.0.10.11
!
control-plane

[...]

You notice this AP are Lightweight AP not Autonomous AP. Even in those you can run "show running-config" command.

I want to change the "loging 10.0.10.11" to "logging 10.20.13.101". But I cann't, nor using the terminal nor using my Cisco AS5508 Wireless Controller.

The WLC is logging in the new syslog server but I have loose the syslog information from the Access Point.

Thank you very much

Re: Change the logging option for the Lightweight AP

Hi,

Management => Logs => Config is the obvious mode but seems not to work,,  The WLC is logging in the server but not the access point.

  That's my problem.

Thank you

Re: Change the logging option for the Lightweight AP

You want the logs to go to the AP?  Or you want the AP logs to go to the server?

Re: Change the logging option for the Lightweight AP

Hi,

  This is what I want:

AP logs to my syslog server

WLC logs to my syslog server

The second part is working fine the WLC logs are sent to the syslog server, but not the AP logs

We can see the configuration at the AP:

# show running-config

[...]

logging snmp-trap debugging
logging
10.0.10.11
!
control-plane

[...]

And I can't change using, as you say before:    (well I can but it does work,it doesn't change)

Management => Logs => Config

I want to know if It's exist another procedure to change this.

Thanks again for your effort

Right-o.  Just want to be clear because I was getting confused.

For example, if your LWAPs radios go down, it will appear in both the appliance and the WLC.

Re: Change the logging option for the Lightweight AP

Hi,

That's right but before I change my syslog server every thing went fine, The logs were sent from the AP and the WLC to the syslog server.

Now I change the syslog server to a new one, with another IP address and I changed the new IP address in the menu, but something has been wrong and now the AP doesn't send the logs to the new syslog server.

I will try to boot up the old one to see if it's working.

  It's mysterious, isn't it?

Thanks

Re: Change the logging option for the Lightweight AP

Indeed.  What is the firmware of the WLC?  Have you tried rebooting the WLC?

Hi,

For the first question: the latest Release 6.0.196.0

Re: Change the logging option for the Lightweight AP

Hi all,

I have resolved the problem by my own, the command is:

config ap syslog host global 10.20.13.101

With the command client in the WLC

Five points for me.
