I have a need to link 2 offices that are physically separated by a 3rd office (1 physical building w/ 3 adjoining offices) in the middle. The walls between the offices are plaster. I was wondering if the 2 access points above, either with internal or external antennae (getting confirmation if external antennae are an option based on building code), will work in this situation so that I can get the 2nd office connected using the AP as a workgroup bridge. There is a need for a few wired devices so would connect a switch to the 2nd APs GE port.

That should work, Infact WGB can be connect to either Autonomous AP or Lightweigth AP. Below gives example configuration for those two scenario which should helps you.

Hi Saravanan,
I haven't tested it before, but I tested it today. Guess what, it worked
Here is the detail for your reference

David: You can ignore my last response & you should be able to do it WGB itself as long as you do it in a way explain in my above post.

Thanks for the response and the links. I had reviewed them prior, just wanted to make sure I'd be able to set that as a role on these units(don't have them in hand yet so wanted to make sure the features would be available).
Quick follow up: Would I still be able to have a second shared ssid on these APs so that the wireless clients at the remote office could connect and then roam to primary office w/o having to re-authenticate if they maintain signal?

Hi David,
Once you configure an AP as WGB, it is more or less acting as a wireless client, so you cannot use it as a AP role at the same time. So you cannot advertise a SSID for clients to join when radio is configured for WGB role.
On the root AP side you can advertise other SSIDs without any restrictions for client connections.

Hi Rasika
Just asking.
Have you tried connecting wgb(cisco AP) using 5ghz radio to cisco AP(capwap/ios), and 2.4ghz of WGB trying to connect to wireless client and or along with wired clients behind the same WGB. does it work?
Thanks
Saravanan
