Cisco Aeronet Air-LAP2602e-?-K9 - What does ? mean..

Hi Everyone

Recently, a client asked me which part number should they use, if they were to order a Cisco Lightweight Access Point. Since, the client is from Malaysia, I adviced them to use C.

I checked on the Cisco website, and Malaysia uses C, for all Cisco LWAP Part Numbers, as stated in this URL http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/wireless/ps5679/ps5861/product_data_sheet0900aecd80537b6a_ps10981_Products_Data_Sheet.html

However, I noticed in some of my other clients here in Malaysia, they use Cisco LWAP with A, which is for America. According to them, no problem, everything is OK.

What's the implication? Will there be any issue? Please kindly advice.

According to the Wireless LAN Compliance Status, Malaysia should be using "-C".  The only time you'll be using "-A" is when you are using Cisco AP3501 access point.

For 1600, 2600, 3600 & 3700 you need to be looking at "-C".

Hi Bro

Thanks for the reply. The reason I asked is because I noticed the client of mine were using 1242AG-A, and it's working fine with their existing WLC 5508. So, I was shocked how come this could work, because A is for America.

Can I conclude that it doesn't matter if it's A or B or C bla.. bla.. anything can be used? or am I wrong. What's the impact of using the wrong part number in the wrong country?

Regards,

Ram

On the WLC, post the output to the command "sh sysinfo".
