Cisco aironet 1600 standalone - How to

Dear Team,

I have an Aironet 1600 to setup without WLC.

Aironet Hardware: AIR-CAP1602I-E-K9

C1600 Software (AP1G2-RCVK9W8-M), Version 15.2(4) JA1, RELEASE SOFTWARW (fc1)

I'm looking for documentation on

1/

How to get started for configuring using CLI as a stand alone AP

(Ie convert the AP (1600)  to a stand alone AP device)

(Note: I can access the AP using console port. I'm not able to go into "Configure terminal" mode.)

I don't have a WLC at all to test and use in other ways.

2/

Once I can access the configure t (or similar)

I require the exact configuration documentation intended for 1600

( as the documents i can access now does not include 1600. Not the one I'm looking for is:

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/access_point/15_2_4_JA/configuration/guide/scg15-2-4_book/scg15-2-4-JA-chap9-localauth.html)

Appriciate the help.

Sri

Yes you have the image on wlc whcih used for AP to connect WLC and without WLC you can configure it:

If you want to use this AP as standalone then you must convert it to standalone mode:

How to convert: Check these links.

1.  https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-14960

2.  http://mrncciew.com/2012/10/20/lightweight-to-autonomous-conversion/

Here is the autonomous AP config:

https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-16087

mostly Autonomous AP can be configured in similer way and there is no diffrence between configuration.

You can configure as shows in this document.

Cisco aironet 1600 standalone - How to

Sandeep,

The debug command does not have an option for console (debug xxxx console)  in 1600. So, I'm not able to do anything in the configuration front. There is a client option and it does not do config t (debug xxxx client).

As for an IOS download, is there a Cisco approved IOS location for the device. (The one you pointed does not open).

You probably have a capwap ap. If you issue a show ver and you see the image as k9w8, that's capwap. You need the k9w7 image.
