Cisco AP541N antennas

Does anyone know the purpose of each antenna? I know its a 2T3R device which means 2Tx 3Rx, however which antennas are transmitting? Additionally if aftermarket antenna are used to increase range, is it necessary to use 3 or 2? Do they need to be spaced apart at specific widths? Can they be seperated out many feet away?

Michael,

with most N devices the outter are the Tx/Rx, and the inner is the Rx only.  When a device connects at N rates, then both the outter antenna are transmitting, if a legacy, A/G device connects, it would probably be the 'right', but might be the left, if diversity has kicked in.

To be safe, you should have all three antenna connected, so that diversity and the N rates wil work.
