Configure Aironet 2602i access points for stand alone operation

Hello,

I have two Cisco Aironet 2602i Access Points currently connected to a wireless controller. I would like to remove these from the controller and reconfigure the access points for stand alone operations. I have not done this before and would appreciate any help or advice you may give.

Thank you

Hello Drew,

You have to download a standalone firmware and load it to the AP to convert it to autonomous mode. The standalone IOS has k9w7 on its file name while the LWAPP / CAPWAP version has k9w8. If you know how to upgrade a switch IOS of a 3750 switch then this should be no problem to you. It's the same procedure.

Thanks.
