Configuring Omnidirectional antenna to act as Directional

Is it possible to configure an Omnidirectional Bridge Antenna as Directional.

Actually my customer has connected two of his sites using AiroNet 350 wireless bridge at both ends. One wireless bridge has a Directional Antenna, and the other one has Omnidirectional. The customer likes the antenna to act as directional.

Your help in this regard would be highly appreciated.

Thanks,

Ahmer Ghazi

Re: Configuring Omnidirectional antenna to act as Directional

The simple answer is no !!

It would be possible to build reflectors to do this but there would be no point as by the time you calculate this and build them it will be cheaper to buy a directional antenna. Plus the losses would also be too big to make it worthwhile

Antenna is a passive device not something that you can configure.

This is a good link on antenna that will give you the basics on their operation and the radiation patterns
