Connecting to a specific Access point

We have 3 - AP1231G aironet AP's connected in a very large production area. They are all configured with the same SSID and WPA key. If there a way to tell a device which AP to connect to? We want devices to connect to the AP that is closest to them but in some instances they connect to an AP that is far away from the device.

Thanks

Re: Connecting to a specific Access point

There are alot of reasons.  The Wireless NIC cards drivers could be out-dated.  Too much signal interference.

Re: Connecting to a specific Access point

We have had this issue in our network as well.  The client would connect to an AP the furthest away instead of connecting to the AP in the same room as the client.  We are using Ubiquiti NICs and had to downgrade the drivers to fix the problem.  Please post which NICs you are using and driver version.
