DHCP reservation not working for Aironet AP (Stand Alone)

I am trying to add a reservation to my IP Pool on a 3750 switch.  From what I can tell I have the setup correctly with the client ID but for some reason it get an IP from the DATA  pool and not the WIFI pool.

Here is my config:

no ip dhcp use vrf connected

ip dhcp excluded-address 10.5.44.1 10.5.44.30

!

ip dhcp pool DATA

network 10.5.44.0 255.255.252.0

default-router 10.5.44.1

domain-name mydomain.com

dns-server 10.1.1.7 10.1.1.8

!

ip dhcp pool WIFI

host 10.5.44.100 255.255.252.0

client-identification 0100.21a0.d626.82

!

Basically I turned on DHCP logging and it gives the following:

*Mar  1 00:09:31: DHCPD: checking for expired leases.

*Mar  1 00:10:23: DHCPD: Sending notification of DISCOVER:

*Mar  1 00:10:23:   DHCPD: htype 1 chaddr 0021.a0d6.2882

*Mar  1 00:10:23:   DHCPD: interface = Vlan1

*Mar  1 00:10:23:   DHCPD: class id 436973636f204150206331313330

*Mar  1 00:10:23:   DHCPD: out_vlan_id 0

*Mar  1 00:10:23: DHCPD: Sending notification of DISCOVER:

*Mar  1 00:10:23:   DHCPD: htype 1 chaddr 0021.a0d6.2882

*Mar  1 00:10:23:   DHCPD: interface = Vlan1

*Mar  1 00:10:23:   DHCPD: class id 436973636f204150206331313330

*Mar  1 00:10:23:   DHCPD: out_vlan_id 0

*Feb 28 19:10:24 EST: %DHCPD-4-PING_CONFLICT: DHCP address conflict:  server pinged 10.5.44.31.

*Mar  1 00:10:26: DHCPD: Adding binding to radix tree (10.5.44.32)

*Mar  1 00:10:26: DHCPD: Adding binding to hash tree

*Mar  1 00:10:26: DHCPD: assigned IP address 10.5.44.32 to client 0100.21a0.d628.82. (2069 0)

*Mar  1 00:10:26: DHCPD: DHCPOFFER notify setup address 10.5.44.32 mask 255.255.252.0

*Mar  1 00:10:26: DHCPD: Sending notification of ASSIGNMENT:

*Mar  1 00:10:26:  DHCPD: address 10.5.44.32 mask 255.255.252.0

*Mar  1 00:10:26:   DHCPD: htype 1 chaddr 0021.a0d6.2882

*Mar  1 00:10:26:   DHCPD: lease time remaining (secs) = 86400

*Mar  1 00:10:26:   DHCPD: interface = Vlan1

*Mar  1 00:10:26:   DHCPD: out_vlan_id 0

When I show the binding I get this:

San_Diego_SW1#sh ip d b

Bindings from all pools not associated with VRF:

IP address          Client-ID/              Lease expiration        Type

                    Hardware address/

                    User name

10.5.44.33          0100.21a0.d628.82       Mar 01 1993 07:10 PM    Automatic

10.5.44.100         0100.21a0.d626.82       Infinite                Manual

What in the world am I doing wrong here so that the reservation does not get used?

Thanks in advance,

You should transfer this

You should transfer this thread to the wireless community of the forum, where it'll attract more experts from wireless domain. Wireless community is available here:

https://supportforums.cisco.com/community/5956/getting-started-wireless

A few things :

Mac address differs from client id and what is there in log.

Client ID # 0021.a0d6.2682

In Logs   # 0021.a0d6.2882

You logs seems old for feb/mar. You should enable debug ip dhcp server packets to see more details.

As per your config you have client-id and ip dhcp pool same mac address you want with you required IP, where is the problem?

host 10.5.44.100 255.255.252.0

client-identification 0100.21a0.d626.82

10.5.44.100         0100.21a0.d626.82       Infinite                Manual

Thanks for the reply, I have

Thanks for the reply, I have moved it to the correct area.

The problem I have is that the WAP is getting the 10.5.44.33 address and not the 10.5.44.100 address IO needed it to get.

I am missing something here just can't put my finger on it.

Hi,1.Try this:Preassigning IP

Hi,

Try this:

Preassigning IP Addresses and Associating Them to a Client

address 10.5.44.100 client-id 0100.21a0.d626.82

Tried it, did not work.

Tried it, did not work.  However for testing I created a reservation for a lightweight AP (AIR-LAP1131AG) and that one worked like a champ using the reservation below and picked up the 102 address.

ip dhcp pool WIFI
   host 10.5.44.102 255.255.252.0
   client-identifier 0100.260b.6332.8c

Same thing I do for the stand alone (AIR-AP1131AG) does not work.  Is there something special for the stand alone?
