Has got an IP but is still not associated

Hello all,

I've four devices in my lab environment:

1x WLC 2112

1x AIR-LAP1252

1x C3550

1x C3524XL

The C3500 is in the middle,

directly connected with the WLC and the C3524XL. Each of them in a trunk.

The AP is conected to the C3524XL.

My problem:

The AP has got an IP from the DHCP server who is running on the C3350.

So I can ping every device, also the WLC/AP from a PC which is directly connected to the C3550. I also can ping the AP from the WLC.

But, the AP is still not associated.

I can't find the AP, also not when I try to add the AP by the MAC-address.

Please can somebody help me to find my mistake ?

Re: Has got an IP but is still not associated

Hi Harry,

Just do the following:

AP>enable

AP#lwapp ap controller ip address

You need to be in enable mode and NOT configuration mode. Your AP should be running the LWAPP Recovery (aka RCV) image.

Hope this helps.

On the LAP, enter the command "lwapp ap controller ip address ".

Hello leolaohoo,

thanks a lot for your quick answer !

I can't find the command lwapp on my AP.

So in wich mode should the AP be,

to set those commands ?

Do I need a special IOS version ?

Best regards

Hi Harry,

I'm glad that we are able to provide the necessary assistance. Thanks for the ratings.

Next time, before you deploy an LAP to a site, it's worthwhile to prime it so that the new LAP will remember the WLC details it needs to JOIN.
