You can downgrade the IOS so you will not need a WLC (autonomous IOS).

Dear Leolaohoo,

Could you let me know how to upload IOS in to wireless., now i cannot do any thing on wireless...

The link above will guide you on how to change the IOS of your WAP from controller-based to autonomous.

Dear Scott and Leolaohoo,

if i don't want to change IOS to WLC (autonomous IOS), is it working without wireless controller?

I will rate to you and thank for your help!

Best Regards,

Rechard

If you have a lap1142, then you need a wlc. If you don't want a wlc, you will need to convert the ap to ios (autonomous).

Just to add to Leo's post. The part number will tell you if you need a wlc or if it is IOS. The "LAP" mean lightweight access point and you need a wlc. "AP" is IOS. If you wanted a standalone AP, you should of bought a AP1142N-A-K9.

Like Leo mentioned you can convert it to autonomous
