How to know my AP is lost with WLC

Hi We have WLC 5500 with more than 200 AP. Do we have a way to know which AP lose connection to its WLC once the AP lose connection to its WLC? Thank you

The logs will tell if the APs have left the controller. Otherwise, the only way is to get a monitoring tool like PI.

Agree with what Leo said.

If you getting WLC syslog msg, you will see something like below with specific AP MAC addresses.

*spamApTask0: Apr 17 05:00:11.682: %CAPWAP-3-ECHO_ERR: [PA]capwap_ac_sm.c:7546 Did not receive heartbeat reply; AP: 50:87:89:ca:45:60

If you have prime infrastructure, you can get notifications when AP disassociate from a WLC.

Re: How to know my AP is lost with WLC

Hi Thank you so much for your fast reply. I took a look at logs(management ----> Logs ----> Logs message), but the latest log message is on today. the AP lost connection weeks ago. So i should not be able to see it, right? and is this one time thing? I mean we can see the message of lost connection one time. if we miss the message, we wont know if the AP is lost, right? The good way for this is to set snmp up on something like solarwind, Orion, right?

You should configure a syslog server on your WLC, in that way you can go back & analyze syslog messages received from WLC.

There are some stats available under Monitor > Statistics > AP Join (choose correct AP you want to monitor)

Thank you so much for your reply. From here Monitor > Statistics > AP Join, we can get a lot info, but these info looks like old and cannot represent current situation. Can i know how often the info get refresh by default?
