https access to wireless controller

We have a 5500 WLC.

I used another ip address in the same subnet as one assigned to  service port  on a workstation & tried to access the WLC via browser https.

However, this doesn't give me https web access to WLC.

I tried enabling "config network secureweb enable" , but it also doesn't help.

Then tried with "config certificate generate webadmin"

the Service port on WLC is configured with 10.10.10.5/24 , i have used 10.10.10.21/24 on my workstation & connected a ethernet cable to SP port of WLC.

I can ping the wlc but when i do https://10.10.10.5 it doesn't work.

Appreciate all help on this.

You don't have the WLC connected to the network correct. Did you factory default the WLC or not?

Service port is out of band and depends on how you have it configured. This should not be connected to your network. You should be able to access the GUI from the SP if you set your IP on your laptop to something in the same subnet.
