is it possible to config AIR-CAP1602E-A-K9 without controller

I purchased a preowned AIR-CAP1602E-A-K9 to setup at my home. I did not realize it needed a controller, and need to set it up to work on it's own. Is it possible? any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Rendell,

AIR-CAP1602E-A-K9, its a controller based 802.11a/g/n.

This would need a controller to function.

I think u can try to change from Lightweigh to Autonomous and then u can use these APs.(I never used 1602E ap).

How to change Lightweight to Autonomous:

Please check these:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/access_point/conversion/lwapp/upgrade/guide/lwapnote.html#wp160918

https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-14960

HI,

Did u contact with any TAC center.

As per my knowledge you can only get this image from cisco.com download center or any IT support partner(Cisco gold...etc) who usually sells the cisco products.

You might email Cisco with the s/n of the AP and see what they tell you. Never hurts to ask.

Sandeep,

Is there any way to get the ap1g2-k9w7-tar.152-4.ja1.tar without buying a service agreement this is for the house after all, and I can not justify the agreement cost for home. I'm very sure I can get it converted once I have the Autonomous IOS..

Thanks again for your assitance.

Sandeep,

Thanks. I can just locate "Cisco TAC Guy" here on the community, or is there some where else? Or do you mean an actual "Cisco" guy with the correct type of account?

Thank you, Sir. Greatly appreciated.

As it turns ouot, it seems I will have to buy a service contract, or find a cisco reseller to pay to get me the file as the person I purchased the "preowned" device from states they can not get the file.

I do appreciate your assistance, but all I can get so far is that I need an expensive service contract with Cisco, and then either sent to an advisor then hung up on, or just need an expensive service contrcat then hung up on.

I'll try contacting an IT support center for some help.. But If that doesn't work...

Does anyone need a like new Aironet 1602E-A-K9?

it seems that cisco still has this awful policy! I have 4 AIR-CAP2702E-E-K9. I registered on cisco site, go to support, find the right file for download and get then the message that only with support contract I can download file.

Does anybody has a reacent file for me? Else I will get rid of cisco and buy ubiquiti
