This week I'm working on a WLAN project which involves WiSM 2 blades migration to CISCO 8500 controller.
Customer has two Cisco 6500 switches in HA Pair with 3 WiSM blades installed on them.
They have total 2000 APs. currently all these APs are managed by multiple WiSM blades and 4400, 2200 WLCs. We proposed a 8500 controller with base 300 AP licenses to start with.
In phase 1: we will migrate 300 APs to the new 8500 controller, the remaining APs will be kept as they are now. Later once the budget is allocated for Phase 2; we will migrate the remaining APs as well.
From your experience; what will be the best way to migrate all these APs from WISM to 8500 wlc? Is there any best practice that I should follow?
Transferring Crash file from standby:
Login to the Active WLC in HA.
(Cisco Controller) >transfer upload datatype crash
(Cisco Controller) >transfer upload filename <Desired filename>
(Cisco Controller) >transfer up...
This is the start of a display filter cross reference between Wireshark and OmniPeek.
The 1st installment is a table of advanced filters. More filters will be added as time allows.
It is a living doc, so check back for changes every so often

I have created a Powershell script to automatically add a Wireless Guest User on Cisco WLCs. (tested on 2500 Series)
The script should be completely self explanatory.
