I am trying to start on my Wireless studies and have an NM-AIR-WLC6 in a 2851 router. I have spent a lot of time trying to get 2 different 1240s and a 3502 APs to connect to it. I have reached a point where one is trying to connect and it says the certificate on the WLC is expired (Dec 2017).
I have seen the End of Life documents and am unsure if I am beating my head against a wall here.
Can someone please tell me if I cannot get this to work and need a newer piece of equipment, or can I just add a new certificate from an externally generated source and get it to work?
If I need a newer WLC, which one is a good suggestion for Wireless Certification?
Thanks

Hi,
As per my knowledge ...its not possible to renew the certificate. Either you need to contact TAC or an official workaround from Cisco is to disable NTP (change year back to 2014/2015/2016). This will allow AP to join the controller.
see this bug is related toi 4400 wlc, with the same issue: https://bst.cloudapps.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCuu02970/?rfs=iqvred
Info: I would recommand to do practice with 2504 wlc.

Also old (EoL reached) but should still work, Cisco WLC 4404
Otherwise, try the two or three possible workarounds in the bug that was mentioned earlier, one might work.
Your EoL link misses an L at the end of .html, here the correct:
In any case, your product is fully EoL since 2017.

I saw the 4400 options on EBay and was willing to go that route, until I realized that I can still use an internal module and save the rack space.... :)
They both go to version 7.0.x, so they should have same capabilities.
I jumped on an NME-AIR-WLC6 for $54.00 shipped
Thank you for your response

to this i know it impossable do . i haf=d 6500 wism2 card same probem ,i had one advanage i new what prob was cisco agree work with me fix the software in return i get all updates
i got 5 updates and now works perfick. but out all sold mine has only update shortly after they close all support so unlikely any one get updates , but do what i do is very hard they dont like work with people only busness but they have histroy with me , but u new controler wont work with old ap most likely wich leave every one in pickle but there other ways around this, that so much cheaper,
cisco forces u by new hardware why these certifice cant be replace , althorw on this update i beleave they remove certifice athencation on it, when i look logs i dont see it , not like was , certifices fine if u replace them on fly cisco wont do this as even a 10 year old ap will work for most people , end life u do know usa has law that states that the people have right to repair any device and busness must provide them what is needed to do such repair, if cisco knows u can recode the device that u dont need there help other then update, u might get it , might is huge word with cisco as i had call them 4 times get them work with me good luck
