# of AP licenses for Anchor controller

How many AP licenses should be for an Anchor controller?  Could I go with base licenses - 12 AP license?

I will use a WLC 5508 with 7.4.121.

Yes, you can go with the lowest licensing option available.

Since it is an anchor controller you will not connect AP's directly to it, so you won't use any license on the anchor.

Hi Eric,

There is no additional licensing required to implement anchor controllers and no AP licenses are required, in fact you should purchased the appropriate controller with the least amount of AP licenses. This is because APs do not register to the anchor controller but rather to the foreign controller (the main WLC for the enterprise).

Yes you can go with 12 AP license.
