office extend WLAN not showing

Hello,

I am trying to get the office extend for one AP on remote location. But unfortunately I couldn't get it until now. On the controller I have allowed local switching under the two WLANs (QWHV and QWHVin51) and choose flexconnect and allow office extend under the AP. But until now the both WLAN doesn't show off on the remote location. It would be great if I get the information about the configuration on remote location switch configuration on which port the AP is connected. Because I believe that port has to configured as trunk and the native VLAN will be the local DHCP server. But until now the port is configured as access port. Because I am not sure which IP and network I should set on the switch for the both WLANs network on that remote switch. One thing to mention that I have also created a group for this office extend, choose those two WLANs and also choose the AP for it.

Here is the output config on the controller for that AP:

OfficeExtend is when you have an AP like a OEAP600 at a home office. You use FlexConnect when you have remote sites and each site has a wan connection back to your main site. So you need to enable FlexConnect, not Office Extend correct. They are two different things an I just want to be sure.

Hello Scott,

thanks for your response. The truth I am quite new in this field and I want to have two officeextend wlan on a remote branch. So what I read from one blog that I have to enable flexconnect as well.correct me please if I am wrong. But what the missing point was about the switch/router configuration on which port the AP will connect. The DHCP IP address

10.151.253.195 the AP get from the local DHCP server and can connect to controller. I have added the attachments the configuration on wlc.

thanks for your co-operate.

If your really doing OfficeExtend, then you need to look at this guide as it goes over what stays local at the users home and what gets tunneled back to the WLC.

Hello Scott,

Today we have got any update from our customer that they can get the both WLAN which should be in office extend. Instead of gettting associated IP address from any of those WLAN network But they are getting wrong IP address (192.168.0.0/24). I add the screenshot from the client I have got.

Hello Scott,

thanks for your email. Ok it means we don't need officeextend in this scenario. But I would like to ask the questions regarding WLAN. I have disable the office extend. But I am still little confused about local and central switching. If I want the user at branch location will connect to one of the WLAN at controller, authencation will be done at controller and get the IP address from that WLAN range as well then do I need to enable central switching under WLAN configuration? Because remote branches don't have any internet connection and have to connect to the headquarter (where controller exist) over WAN etherconnect (done by the ISP). So it should be in the same IP range for the specific WLAN to get access central server access as well as for internet. Presently under WLAN local switching is enabled. Do I have to configure another DHCP range for the WLAN on remote branch and If I do whether I should configure the switch port as trunk and configure the native vlan for AP to get IP from local DHCP server?

Hello Scott,

I didn't get any feedback. I hope the problem I have been facing for flexconnect should be fixed soon. When the client try to login on a specific WLAN on controller we see the client MAC address but it cannot get any IP address. So the client status shows as disassociated. For that specific wlan we have created on the branch office another dhcp range on dhcp server and create a trunk port to allow that VLAN.

       trunk 1,59

AP----------------->Switch-------------->ASA FW------------------->ISP layer 2--------------->ASA FW--------------->Controller

     Native 1          |                                                        Ethernetconnect                                        WLAN 59

                    Local DHCP

                    Server for VLAN1

                    and VLAN59

I would be glad to get an advice.

thanks
