POE issues with none Cisco switches

Running IOS version 12.3(7)JA1 on AP1200 b/g, after turning off CDP on AP. AP failed to initiate power from the none Cisco POE switch. Please advice.

Hi Martin,

No it doesn't work. The reason is the non-cisco device switch doesn't support CDP. It does support IEEE and 802.3af.

The Cisco 1200 AP is not 802.3af compliant and will not work with a pure 802.3af switches. You should be able to add a PDPS800 which will receive power from an 802.3af switch and output 48VDC plus data to the 1200.The PDPS800 will need to be located near the 1200 AP. See URL below
