I recently needed to turn the power down on our 1231 2.4GHz access point. The cck setting can use up to 100mw, the ofdm setting can use up to 30mw. I needed to tweak the power down because users in the building next door could login. I took the cck from 100mw to 20, an then took the ofdm from 30mw to 20 also.
My question is this: Should I have turned the power on the cck down to 30 and tested that? Would that have make the 802.11b cell size the same size as the 802.11g? As I understand it, the 802.11b has greater distance, correct?
Thanks,
Tim
