Can anyone assist. im setting up a aironet 2802-E ap as a standalone unit i.e its not going to join WLC. im new to the wireless environment but have done much research, in order for me to use this ap as a standalone unit, i need to convert to mobility express but im stuck here. Conversion to mobility express was a success, but still can't configure the ap. This ap is not going to join any WLC, it needs to be set up as autonomous mode but currently there's no image. Can anyone assist? is there an image i could use to use this ap as a stand alone unit?

Download the mobility image from here(You will need a valid service contract) :

https://software.cisco.com/download/release.html?mdfid=286304510&softwareid=286289839&release=8.3.121.0&flowid=79966

Hi,

To verify if the AP conversion to Mobility Express was successful then on the Console access you will see the Controller prompt. And also you can verify the "show version" output to confirm on the ME conversation as below:

AP Image type : MOBILITY EXPRESS IMAGE
AP Configuration : NOT MOBILITY EXPRESS CAPABLE

After the ME conversion, the AP will operate as Controller as well as the Master AP. However, the WLC mgmt and the AP will use 2 different IP addresses. On the Console access, use the command "apciscoshell" to login to the AP and check the details.

Divya
