Single Access Point across wide area

Hello.

We have 5 buildings within 5km radius. Is it possible to use only one Access point or Bridge within the given range?

How to set it up ? What hardware requirements do i need?

Thanks.

You need atleast one bridge with antennas for one building so total 5 bridge needed..Out of 5, make one as root-bridge (pref central location or head office) and rest are non-root..

Access Point can't cover 5km of radius..

Re: Single Access Point across wide area

APs *can* reliably cover a radius of up to 7 miles, but don't call Cisco if it doesn't work. The data rate will be slightly lower than a multi-point bridge config.

*Most* manufacturers will not give you your money back if you don't get past 2 miles - and of course, appropriate antennas make all the difference.

Re: Single Access Point across wide area

We are currently using the wb350 with our own Antennae Array and achieving a 3 mile Radius of coverage. Our CPE is allowing for a direct Cat-V connection to a server. Let me know if you want more information.
