Specrum analyzer soft?

I wonder if there is some free software solution to the site survey tool. I mean, if can I find the free soft that may make my PC to be a spectrum analyser, finding the least congested channels and showing the level of noise on every frequency channel in 2.4GHz band, using simple Cisco 350 Series Aironet PCI or PCMCIA card?

In case Cisco has developed something like that, I would be very interested.

Thank you very much,

Valery

You can use ACU's site survey tool which can assist you in conducting a site survey.

The tool operates at the RF level and is used to determine the best placement and coverage (overlap) for your network's infrastructure devices. The following link gives more information:

Sort of. I use an old Proxim WaveLAN FHSS card. There is a utility with it that let's it function as a poor-man's spectrum analyser. Because of the channel width you can't get that graularity with DSSS.

You can also use the "Carrier Busy Test" on the access point to identify clear channels.
