Hello, I use two network controllers WLC 2504 each have 10 licenses installed on the AP. Currently connected AP is 6/6 on both controllers. Is there a possibility of full coverage of 12 temporary AP in one controller in case of failure?
Not possible with the license you have activated. You can look at the licensing and see if you still have the evaluation license and time left. If so, you can activate that and use that temporary. With a 10 license, you can only associate 10 AP's, so the only work around is to try to activate the evaluation license.
You can use only 10 AP to connect to One WLC because it have licence only for 10 .
What you are using is the best solution u have in your scenario.Dont try to put all AP on one WLC otherwise you will loose connection for rest 2 APs.
It would be good if you order 5 AP adder licence for each WLC: L-LIC-CT2504-1A(5 Access Point Adder License for Cisco 2504 Wireless Controller (e-Delivery))
When you have both WLC with Sufficient AP licence then u can use High Avilabilty(HA in controllers allows you to reduce the downtime of the wireless networks that occurs due to the failover of controllers.)
How to Configure HA:
You can configure the name and the management interface IP addresses of the primary, secondary controllers for each AP from the Wireless > Access Points > All APs > Select AP > High Availability Configuration page on the controller.
Transferring Crash file from standby: Login to the Active WLC in HA.
From CLI: (Cisco Controller) >transfer upload datatype crash (Cisco
Controller) >transfer upload filename (Cisco
Controller) >transfer upload mode tftp (Cisco Controller) >transfer
