Hostnames changes has to be done from the GUI or CLI of the WLC. This can only be done if the AP has joined the WLC. Once an ap has joined any WLC, you can't change the hostnames unless you erase the flash for factory reset the ap.

Check the flash of the AP to see if there is enough memory.

Usually older AP's tend to have junk:) crash files etc.... You can get rd of all that and free up some space. Compare it to a good know AP.

I didn't say format!!! Delete files that are not needed. You can reference one if you other AP's. Log files like error or crash can be removed.

Unable to change light weight access points hostname! from cisco

enable telnet or ssh to the AP and then issue a dir.  Post the output.

Thanks,

Scott

Unable to change light weight access points hostname! from cisco

You need to session into the WiSM from the 6509 or connect to the console port:

You can access the WiSM through a session command directly now.

SFO#session switch 1 slot 11 proc 1
The default escape character is Ctrl-^, then x.
You can also type 'exit' at the remote prompt to end the session
Trying 172.23.226.99 ... Open
