I have a 5508 with 4 APs connected to it.
I wanted to change the global wireless channel configuration for the b/g/n networks from channel 1 to channels 3,6,11
I disabled the network by going to
802.11b/g Network Status and unchecking the box
then I changed the channels in DCA to 3,6,11
the controller took the commands, but my LWAPs are not updating. They still show up as channel 1. I tried to reset them, shut and enable switch ports, etc., but for some reason they always go back to channel 1 (even though 3,6,11 show up under DCA).
did I miss something?

Maybe the channel is hard set on the AP. Click the blue drop down button on the right of the AP name and info. Click on configure and you can set it there.
Again... You should leave this at 1, 6 and 11.

Never tried that... Best practice is to use 1, 6, 11 since they are non overlapping. Channel 3 will overlap with channel 6.

Problem is, there is a lot of wireless in the building, and channel 1 is crowded.
Do the even channels overlap?

Channel 1 bleeds out to channel 3. Channel 6 bleeds out to 4 and 8. Channel 11 bleeds out to 9.
