Weird 802.11a behavior

So I encountered an issue with my 802.11a radio on one AP, first of all I have about 10 AP's broadcasting A and the clients are Symbol MC50 handhelds plus 2 laptops. I have a 4404 WLC with 1242 APs using RRM.

I had this AP broadcasting the necessary SSID but none of these clients or these 2 laptops could see it, I had my AirMagnet open and I WAS able to see it, I used my Cisco CB21AG card with the site survey utility and I was able to see it with this as well, but 2 laptops using the WZC and all handhelds (about 25) could not see the ssid.

The AP was on channel 100 and when I manually changed it to channel 161 voila everyone was instantly able to see the SSID. I'm stumped as to why this happened does anyone have any ideas?

Re: Weird 802.11a behavior

I have seen this before and it was due to the client cards not supporting UNII-2e channels.  Hope this helps.
