Weird Problem with Cisco Aironet AP1242G-E-K9 - Previous authentication no longer valid

Hey all,

hope you could help me

Got a warehouse with 3 AccessPoints of type mentioned above.

Before I changed them to Cisco 1242 there were Cisco A1210 on duty.

New APs got the same settings but now I got the follwing

*Jan  3 02:50:00.026: %DOT11-6-DISASSOC: Interface Dot11Radio0, Deauthenticating Station xxxx.xxxx.xxxx Reason: Previous authentication no longer valid

*Jan  3 02:50:00.033: %DOT11-4-MAXRETRIES: Packet to client xxxx.xxxx.xxxx reached max retries, removing the client

The clients need to have a durable connection, errors will affect disconnecting of the clients (they have time-crit applications).

Here the configfiles of the 3 Access Points (Just dot11 int):

AP1

interface Dot11Radio0

no ip address

no ip route-cache

encryption vlan 2 mode ciphers aes-ccm

encryption vlan 1 key 1 size 128bit 7 ****** transmit-key

encryption vlan 1 mode ciphers wep128

ssid pLBF11bSEC

mbssid

channel 2437

station-role root

rts threshold 2312

no dot11 extension aironet

world-mode dot11d country-code DE outdoor

no cdp enable

AP3

interface Dot11Radio0

no ip address

no ip route-cache

encryption vlan 2 mode ciphers aes-ccm

encryption vlan 1 key 1 size 128bit 7 ***** transmit-key

encryption vlan 1 mode ciphers wep128

ssid pLBF11b

ssid pLBF11bSEC

antenna transmit right-a

antenna receive right-a

mbssid

power local 2

power client 10

channel 2462

station-role root

rts threshold 2312

no dot11 extension aironet

world-mode dot11d country-code DE outdoor

no cdp enable

As you can see I disabled the aironet extensions (found this in this forum) and all APs uses non overlapping channels (1,6,11).

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for helping me.

Regards,

Chris

Weird Problem with Cisco Aironet AP1242G-E-K9 - Previous authent

Hi,

I am assuming that you are connecting the antennas!!

the error means that the CLient is not abke to grab the wireless signal properly.. either the client is getting very weak signal strength coz of which the client is getting disconnected..

The power levels configured are very low..

2 and 8 and default on each APs..

Please issue the below command and see if this helps

en

conf t

int dot11 0

power local max

power client max

end

Surendra

Hey Surendra,

thank your for you suggested solution.

Did this on all 3 Access Points, but still got connection problems:

Re: Weird Problem with Cisco Aironet AP1242G-E-K9 - Previous aut

Ok, did some changes in the dot11 config and updated the firmware.

*Feb  9 12:50:39.792: Client xxxx.xxxx.xxxx failed: reached maximum retries

*Feb  9 12:50:39.792: %DOT11-6-DISASSOC: Interface Dot11Radio0,  Deauthenticating Station 000b.6b1f.9e94 Reason: Previous authentication  no longer valid

This message disappears after fw update.

Still my clients have problems with connectivity losses (2sec-5sec). Is there any debug I can make to gather information 'bout their problems?

All channels have a load of 5-7%.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Regards,

Chris

Re: Weird Problem with Cisco Aironet AP1242G-E-K9 - Previous aut

Hey all,

switched back to the old AIR-AP1231G-E-K9 with c1200-k9w7-mx.122-13.JA4 firmware.

No problems occurs with this ones.

What's the best way to figure out, what this access points doin' properly and the new ones don't.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Chris
