What is a reasonable PSK length for WPA2/PSK/AES for reasonable security?
What is a reasonable PSK length for WPA2/PSK/AES for reasonable security? The PreShared Key can be between 8 and 63 characters long (or exactly 64 hex characters). You want a key long enough to defeat a brute force attack (i.e. it would take 1 month of computing power to crack the key) and minimize the errors when users enter the key on their computer.

Short PSK's of 20 chracters are almost impossible to break as long as you follow the rules for strong passwords. Use upper and lower case numbers and special characters and don't use any dictionary words, you can use a passphrase to help remember the characters used for the PSK. you actually are more at risk from someone atealing the PSK than someone cracking it.
