Which WLC is compatible with aironet 1242AG APs

Hello All,

I have around 17 Cisco APs Aironet 1242AG but I don't have a controller. Then any time that I need to make some change on the condiguration I have to do it one by one. I planning to buy a WLC to handle all APs form the controller. I knwo that APs are a little all thats why I am not sure which WLC could I use.

Thank you so much.

well selecting a controller

well selecting a controller depends upon how how you expect to grow in terms of wireless(users and APs) i would suggest go for 55XX series min and if you don't expect more AP in your network and you want just manageability 2500 series is a good option .

2500 Scalability

Supports up to 75 access points
Supports up to 1000 clients
Datasheet 2500
Datasheet for 5500

This is the software compatibility matrix

Thank you so much Kaaftab. I

Thank you so much Kaaftab.

I think if we growth will be untill arround 25 o max to 30 APs.

But my big concern was which WLC will be compatible and we can use with the Aironet 1242AG.

Thank you

Hello, gornash. kaaftab is

Hello, gornash. kaaftab is correct, the 2500 and 5500 controller are good options on supporting up to 30 max APs, which also supports your 1242AG (check kaaftab's compatibility matrix link). The 2500 controller is a cost effective solution. However, the 5500 can provide you scalability. Check this link for a comparison on different WLCs:
