Clearing the NVRAM is what you need to do. You also need to make sure that prior to trying to change the hostname, that the ap doesn't join the WLC. Once it joins, then you need to make changes in the WLC.  You also can deleted the config when you look at the flash.

Hi Scott,

I had tried but still same. What command you use to clear NVRAM?

Thank you.

Here is what you need to do:

debug capwap console cli
erase /all nvram:
[confirm]
undebug all
reload
[confirm]

Hi

If your WLC has a code 5.2 or above you can use

"debug capwap console cli" "debug lapwap console cli"

After that the command will be allow

Please note that if AP is already associated to WLC,
the new hostname will only reflect on WLC after AP dis-associates and rejoins

Hi Salodh,

It is a brand new ap and yet associated to WLC.
