Wireless IP has high latency even from LAN switch

Hi All,

We use 3502I AP at client office. We have 26 AP's at the site connected to diffrent access switch(5 switches) and access switches are connect core switch through port-channel. The AP are associated with DC WLC. We use /20 subnet for wireless users. The user get IP through DHCP. The AP also use DHCP IP. The wireless users count will be around 250.

The issue is, the wireless user are facing high latency in reaching there gateway IP. Even when we try to ping the wireless IP's from their respective access switch we see high latency. But this issue is for few users IP's alone and also it is intermittent.

Kindly assist me in this to fix it.

Ping results:

xxxxswitch#ping 10.10.134.189 r 1000

Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 1000, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 10.10.134.189, timeout is 2 seconds:

Re: Wireless IP has high latency even from LAN switch

HI Vasanth,

This is happening only with one Client IP or with many client on this SSID ?

Did u see any errors or logs on WLC or Swicth where AP is connected?

is ur client drivers are up to date?

Also paste the debug client <mac address> output from WLC.

More about client troubleshooting:

If you dont have high dense then disable these rates and make18Mbps as mandatory and all other as supported.

1 Mbps: Disabled

2 Mbps: Disabled

5 Mbps: Disabled

6 Mbps: Disabled

9 Mbps: Disabled

11 Mbps: Disabled

12 Mbps: Disabled

Re: Wireless IP has high latency even from LAN switch

I have seen this in the past and what you have to look at is if this affects a certain type if wireless device card or not. For example, does this affect both Windows type devices and Apple devices? Have you looked at and have tried updating windows wireless drivers? Have you checked to see if there is a duplicate address in the network? I would also check the dhcp scopes for that site to make sure the scopes are not overlapping and make sure the address for your equipment has been reserved. I would also try to ping from device to device to eliminate an issue with the gateway.
