Wireless solution for Telecommuter

Which is the better solution for individual telecommuters; Connecting to Wired LAN through point to point wireless bridges and access points

or

VPN-broadband connectivity, using VPN concentrator at the central site and VPN S/w or H/w client at the user end.

Please tell which is technologically and commercially better solutions. Also siting the price comparison for both the solutions
