Upgrade the WLC to v7.6 and reboot the WLC. Upload the FUS 1.9.0.0 and reboot. The FUS should take 35-45 minutes. I
Would also console into the WLC when upgrading the FUS so you can see the process. It's optional, but at least you can see what it looks like.

You should also know that there are issues with v7.6 if you have 3700's or 3600's or if you have Broadcom NIC's. If you have any if the above, then you need to open a TAC case and get the TAC release of v7.6.101.7. You can also acquire it here.

There are open bug's that affect the 3700's and 3600's with AC and loosing layer 2 connectivity.  There is also another open bug that affects any Broadcom wireless NIC cards that also loose layer 2 connectivity.  The fix is the TAC release of v7.6.101.7.  IF you are uncomfortable using a TAC release, then I would hold off and wait until they publically publish a ne v7.6.x that addresses these issues.  The link I posted has the fixes:

Issues fixed on this release

CSCum68243      Corfu: dot11 ant-band-mode command is missing in autonomous image

CSCuj17283         ap3700 uses 8 replay counters w/ clients that support only 1 (ARP fails)

CSCum16566      Corfu SKU-C :- fix ETSI domain 2.4Ghz radio config for 802.3at power

CSCum53468      DNS resolver enabled on AP

CSCum17989      After DFS RM3000AC-Q and AP3702I-Q show illegal channel 144 in CBW80 use

CSCum49200      7.6: Broadcom client connectivity problems if WMM enabled w/ ap3600

CSCun02785       Corfu:- 7.6 D-domain 5G CTL update

Thanks,

Scott

Just adding to scott:

Here are the steps:

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/wireless-mobility/wireless-lan-wlan/68835-wlc-upgrade.html

FUS upgarde procedure:

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/release/notes/fus_rn_1_7_0_0.html

Make sure you take a downtime for atleast 60 minutes for all process.(software + FUS).

Re: Wirless LAN Controller 2504 Upgrade 7.5 to 7.6

May be Zohaib require direct steps, let's give it a try

1. Download AIR-CT2500-K9-1-9-0-0-FUS.aes from CCO

2. Get latest 7.6.101.x (7.6MR1 pre-release) via link provided by Scott

https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-40402

3. Upload these files to a TFTP server root folder

4. Backup you current WLC configuration to a TFTP server using WLC CLI (console access to WLC is preferred during upgrade).

(WLC) >transfer upload datatype config

(WLC) >transfer upload mode tftp

(WLC) >transfer upload serverip

(WLC) >transfer upload path .

(WLC) >transfer upload filename

(WLC) >transfer upload start

Are you sure you want to start? (y/N) y

5. Upgrade the FUS to the 1.9.0.0 (will take ~30-40 min) using the below commands.WLC will reboot automatically once the process is finished.

(WLC) >transfer download datatype code

(WLC) >transfer download mode tftp

(WLC) >transfer download serverip

(WLC) >transfer download path .

(WLC) >transfer download filename AIR-CT2500-K9-1-9-0-0-FUS.aes

(WLC) >transfer download start

Are you sure you want to start? (y/N) y

6. Upgrade the WLC software to 7.6.101.x code you got (will take ~10 min). You can use the below commands on WLC CLI.

(WLC) >transfer download datatype code

(WLC) >transfer download mode tftp

(WLC) >transfer download serverip

(WLC) >transfer download path .

(WLC) >transfer download filename AIR-CT2500-K9-7-6-101-x.aes

(WLC) >transfer download start

Are you sure you want to start? (y/N) y

7. Reload the controller once the upgrade process is finished.

(WLC) >reset system

The system has unsaved changes.

Would you like to save them now? (y/N) y

8. Then make sure all the APs registered to this WLC upgraded to the latest image & AP count is talley before & after the change. Also do the testing for client connectivity.

It's not your response, Scott. You gave the OP a response he didn't like or a response which made him look bad to his boss.
