WISM2 Issues

Hello,

I experience some problems with WISM2 configuring on our 6513

I configure DHCP pool for my management interface (wism2 has no ap manager)

Here is a part of config

ip dhcp pool my_wism_management

host 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0

hardware address xxxx.xxxx.xxxx

default-router 192.168.1.254

end

everything is working fine, my service port has its own dhcp pool, but still management receive APIPA address (169.254) once i restarted 6513 and it received ip from pool, i restarted modules and again this problem

where can be a problem, or it specific error of WISM 2 ?

thank you

Hi,

you are using DHCP for your WiSM management IP address?

please use a static IP address for the management interface.

if you would like to know more about the importance of that interface and why it should be static, please review the following link http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/controller/7.2/configuration/guide/cg_ports_interfaces.html#wp1117168

Hi,

can you please show me where is that in the guide?

service port can be via DHCP.

here is a good guide on the initial config of the WiSM2

hardware address xxxx.xxxx.xxxx

For a start, "hardware address " is "old school".  Won't work anymore, nowadays.  Try "client-id ".
