Does newScale work with time zones as of March 2008?

Does newScale work with time zones as of March 2008?

In March 2008, Daylight Savings Time (DST) was changed to start in March in much of the United States. newScale should continue to function correctly. But:

1. Sun JDK version or greater contains the DST fix.

2. See the Sun FAQ on timezones and JRE:

3. You should not  use the deprecated three-letter timezone IDs "EST", "HST", and "MST" for Eastern, Hawaii, and Mountain summer time.

This can lead to incompatibilities. You should use the new format of timezone ID, for example, "America/New_York."

4. Background Overview on Sun Alert Doc 102836:

"For a customer to be affected...the following conditions need to be true: Their Java platform applications use directly the three letter time zone IDs "EST", "HST" and "MST". Sun documented a warning against doing this in 1998, explaining that since short time zone abbreviations such as "EST" are ambiguous they should not be used, and that the long names, such as "America/New_York", should be used instead..."
