Can I use the USB port on a 4255

Is it possible to store network data to an external usb harddrive on the IPS 4255 appliance. If not what can the USB port be used for?

Re: Can I use the USB port on a 4255

No, the USB port is not used at this time.

The IPS-4255 and IPS-4240 are based off the same base hardware as several of the ASA-5500 series firewalls.

The USB port was added as part of the firewall hardware requirements.

So the USB port is not currently used by the IPS Appliances. During hardware designs it was decided to go ahead and keep in on the IPS Appliances for possible usage in some future IPS version.
