About two months ago my acct purchased a cisco IPS 4240 appliance. yesterday i was finally able to get my hands on it and configured it using the console. however, even though I can ping the sensor, i cannot telnet or use the webserver on it.
telnetOption enabled
the webserver service is using all defaults. any ideas.
thanks,
John

Make sure the accessList parameter allows access from your IP address(es). When you run the "setup" command it asks you to modify the access list, say yes to this and add in your IP address and/or subnet. Then you'll be able to get into it. The access-list parameter defines what IP addresses can get into (telnet, htp, ssh) the IDS.

Thanks for the tip. I was looking to manually add my subnet so i could log in, but i could not find it. Never thought that it would be under the setup area. Thanks for the information. i am now able to get in.
Thanks for the help...
