Difference between Syslog and SNMP traps

Hello,

What is the difference between Syslog and SNMP traps ? Does Syslog mean every log message shown in 'show log'.

Re: Difference between Syslog and SNMP traps

The Cisco IPS sensors can not send Syslog messages of any kind using the native software. You can send an SNMP Trap when a signature fires, but you have to configure the signature action to do that on EACH signature you wish the sensor to send an SNMP Trap.

The Cisco IOS-IPS is a different story.
