Help with 'Bad Layer 4 Checksum' counter

The "Bad Layer 4 Checksum" counter for our IDSM2 (inside 6513) has a very large value. Does anyone have a link/information on this counter ?

Do you see any signatures firing because of this? To me, this appears to be an issue with a malformed TCP or UDP packet which is failing the checksum (at the layer 4 level) validity. I could not locate any related document on this.
