Could someone please give us the full path URL where we could find SecMon/idsmc 2.1? We know that the web page says that VMS 2.3 bundle installs SecMon 2.1 but maybe we do not understand how these package labels work. After we have installed VMS 2.3, the software and version screens from inside of CiscoWorks indicates that SecMon/idsmc is 2.0.1 installed.
Is 2.0.1 = to 2.1?
What are the complete steps to correctly install ipsmc/ SecMon 2.2> we think that it is:
1. VMS 2.3; This installs idsmc/ SecMon 2.0.1
2. When we attempt to install the patch called CSCOids2.1.0-?_SecMon_2_1_Service_Pack_1-6.tar we receive an error message that indicates that the patch that we are about to install is not intended for this release and that we should contact TAC before proceeding>>
Our following steps would have been:
3. idsmdc2.1.0-?-CSCsc33696-1.tar
4. fcs-IDSMDC-v2.2-?-K9.exe
5. idsmdc2.2.0-win-CSCsd05147-4.tar
Are we correct or is there a step missing?

pls could someone from cisco with any experiance for vms 2.3 answer this thread. I really am not able to find this file called "fcs-IDSMDC-v2.1-win-K9.exe" on your web site.
according to a cisco document:
Step 3 explains
Navigate to the Software Download page for Management Center for
IDS Sensors and Monitoring Center for Security, which is located at
http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/mgmt-ctr-ids-app.
Step 4
Click fcs-IDSMDC-v2.1-win-K9.exe and proceed with the download.

The latest VMS bundle does include 2.1, and not 2.0.1.
From:
http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/vms
This download contains: CiscoWorks Common Services 2.2 with SP3
CiscoWorks Mgmt Center for Firewalls 1.3.4
CiscoWorks Auto Update Server 1.3
CiscoWorks Mgmt Center for VPN Routers 1.3.1
CiscoWorks Mgmt Center for IDS Sensors 2.1
CiscoWorks Monitoring Center for Security 2.1
If you download the files from the URL above and install VMS 2.3, IPS MC 2.1 will be included. We are not distributing the individual IDSMC package as its bundled with the VMS software.

Hi Darin,
Is this a fresh installation? If it is, you don't need to install SecMon 2.0 or 2.1; just go straight to 2.2. To answer your question, 2.0.1 is not 2.1.
Obtain VMS 2.3. You will need CD-1 (this includes IDSMC/SecMon 2.1). Don't grab CD-2 unless you want to install CSA MC 4.5.
http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/vms
Run setup from this CD and at first, select to install only Common Services. Don't select IPS MC or Security Monitor at this time.
Obtain IPS MC / SecMon 2.2. Filename is: fcs-IDSMDC-v2.2-win-K9.exe
http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/mgmt-ctr-ids-app
Run setup and install IPS MC or SecMon on this server. From a system load/resource/stability standpoint, it is suggested to run IPS MC and SecMon on seperate servers. YMMV (your mileage may vary).
Apply any IPSMC/SecMon 2.2 patches afterwards.
Apply signature update.
