IDS 4215 WebUI access and password

Referring to

http://forums.cisco.com/eforum/servlet/NetProf?page=netprof&forum=Security&topic=Intrusion%20Prevention%20Systems/IDS&CommCmd=MB%3Fcmd%3Ddisplay_location%26location%3D.1ddcde2a

A- I can telnet to the IDS (at work) , but I am trying to figure out why I can not access the web interface (tiny window was popped up), I tried default username and password which are cisco without any sucess.

A/1- How can i find that (current username and password) ? I have issued show configuration, but I could find nothing!!!

A/2- Do I need to assign username and password for the web interfaces access ?

B- Does a console cable for an IDS is something different from th a console cable for a router ?
For RJ-45 connections, connect a 180/rollover cable
A- I can telnet to the IDS (at work) , but I am trying to figure out why I can not access the web interface (tiny window was popped up), I tried default username and password which are cisco without any sucess.

- Try default 'cisco/cisco'. But you normally need to change the default password (cisco) when initializing it. Default username/pwd is cisco/cisco. HTTPS is enabled by default.

A/1- How can i find that (current username and password) ? I have issued show configuration, but I could find nothing!!!

- From the CLI, issue "sh user all". You should be able to see user account (if configured).

Otherwise, create new account(s) using :

sensor(config)# username operator01 password my2centpwd priv operator

sensor(config)# username admin911 password 3mer9ing5 priv administrator

A/2- Do I need to assign username and password for the web interfaces access ?

- No, you can use available user account/ID. But it's good to have user ID with admin privileges for testing purposes.

B- Does a console cable for an IDS is something different from th a console cable for a router ?

- No, it should be the same

Thanks for that AK, I was able to access WebUI by using same username and password for the telnet.

Maybe IDM access is not working thanks Java problem

Try following download java 1.4.2_07

and then set the following as below in Java

Step 1 Close all instances of Internet Explorer or Netscape.

Step 2 Choose Start > Settings > Control Panel.

Step 3 If you have Java Plug-in 1.4.2 installed:

a. Click Java Plug-in.

The Java Plug-in Control Panel appears.

b. Click the Advanced tab.

c. Enter -Xmx256m in the Java RunTime Parameters field.

d. Click Apply and exit the Java Control Panel.

Now try to connect to the IDM via https
