IME Running as a Service

From what I understand IME runs as a service and collects data even when the GUI is not running.  Is it also capable of sending email alerts (if so configured) without the GUI running as long as the service is running?

I'm running IME 7.0.3.

Thanks.

Re: IME Running as a Service

Terry;

  This is correct; the GUI need not be running.  IME runs as two services:

Cisco IPS Manager Express Service

MySQL-IME

  The first service performs the data gathering and alerting, the second service is the database service into which events are stored.

  As long as the two services are running and the system running IME has connectivity to the monitored sensors, the IME GUI is not required to be running for email alerts to be generated.
