IPS 5.0 Device manager / Configuration tool

Hi

I want to start with deploying new IPS 4240 device. I want to find out is there any gui based management software which can make the initial config easy. I am trying to follow CLI at present.

Hello Rakesh,

You can configure the IP address initially using the CLI and go ahead and use the IPM to configure the IPS. I have attached a document which clearly shows the configuration of IPS.

greate. Thansk Sachin. Is it enough for most deployment to keep default value of 'Action' in the signature?

The signatures all have a default action which is based on Cisco's IPS signature team's recommendation.

However each environment will be different and you may decide that there are some signatures that you want to have an action to 'Alert' only, and there may be others where you want to block, or deny-inline, or capture the triggering packet. It all depends on what you want to accomplish.
