Hi There,
Can somebody please tell me what is the communication traffic size between an IPS sensor and the Cisco management server (either VMS or CSM)?
My IPS product is sitting in the network perimeter and my management server is in the inside network; therefore, I need to know whether my network links will get congested out of this communication.
Appreciate your feedback.
Regards,
Haitham

Traffic size is available in various ranges of performance levels, from 45 Mbps up to multiple Gbps.It supports a maximum of 8 Gbps through Load Sharing Technique.Actual traffic size depends on the Model used.As an example we could say Cisco IPS 4240 Sensor model supports 250 Mbps and Cisco IPS 4255 Sensor model supports 600 Mbps.

That depends quite a bit on how the sensors are configured. However, if we're talking 100Mbit links or better, even a poorly tuned sensor is unlikely to cause congestion (unless the link is already at or approaching max capacity of course).
