New ASA-SSM-10 License question

Hi alll, I'm fairly new to the ASA-SSM-10 platform and a bit confused regarding lisencing requirements. I purchased the device 2 months ago from a reseller in Canada. I've just began installing/setting it up. I have not bought any service contract yet with it. The image on the device is from 2010. What do I need to purchase in order to be able to download software upgrades and signature upgrades for it? Does the device require a license to operate? What are the normal steps when purchasing this device as far as licences?

Thanks

Phil

New ASA-SSM-10 License question

Hello Philip,

1) I think you need a regular cisco contract so you can have access to the different Software releases.

2)No license needed unless you want to run a specific feature like auto-update as an example

3) Again it will depend on what you are looking for, I mean for basic placement and protection you do not have a license if then you want to scale it to the point where the different signature releases are download automatically then you will need to get one,

For license issues the place to go is :licensing@cisco.com
