SNMP on SSM-10 IPS

Hi,

I have several SSM-10 IPS sensors (inside ASA5510 firewalls) and I'm trying to get it to send status changes & notifications via SNMP to our Syslog server (Solarwinds).

I have enabled SNMP Traps under "Config>>Sensor Mgmt>>SNMP>>Traps Config"

I have also enabled the Metrics I require tracking i.e. IPS in Bypass Mode under "Config>>Sensor Mgmt>>Sensor Health"

However, when there is a change in status i.e. the sensor is put into bypass mode for example; I never recieve a trap.

I can 'ping' the syslog server, so it knows how to get there and it has been 'discovered' on Solarwinds and is reporting other stats like CPU etc etc...

I'd like to confirm that I dont have to 'enable' anything else on the sensor to make this work and if I do then what do I need to do.

Many thanks.

Yes. You need to enable

Yes. You need to enable "Request SNMP Trap" under each and every signatures. Right click the active signature then click Edit Actions then check mark "Request SNMP Trap" then click ok. Exit the ASDM to apply the settings.
