CCME and Conference Resources

Have a new CCME installation and they want to add Conference and MeetMe capabilities.

There are enough dsp on the one stick they have to support the 2 PRI's they have and but there is only one PRI in use.

Can I configure the system to use some of the DSP's on that stick for conferencing or do I need to have a separate PVDM stick allocated just for conferncing?

Thanks.

conferencing requires a whole DSP so if you still have one whole DSP free you can use it

Depending on the number of pri channels/time slots you are confguring or have configured, you can share dsp resources for voice calls and conferencing.

Your best bet, is to accurately determine how many voice calls you want to have and how many conferencing sessions and then detrmine with the aid of cisco dsp calculator, if your pvdm is sufficient to handle it.

you can access the cisco dsp calculator here..

http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/Support/DSP/dsp-calc.pl

Eg,

If you have 1 pvdm2-32 and you have configured 30 timeslots on your router, then you are not going to have any dsp resources left for conferencing..

however if you want to configure 30 time slots with 8 conferene sessions, without xcoding, then you will need

either, 1 pvdm2-16 and 1pvdm2-32 or

1 pvdm2-48.

Again if you configure 15 voice channels/time slots, then with a PVDM2-32, you can configure 8 conference sessions

The dsp calculator will help you accurately plan your solution..
