Hi everybody,
I am trying to make PSTN calls with 9971 phones but this does not work because of invalid Transfer Capability.
I have also tried to add the "bearer-cap speech" command to the voice ports but this doesn't helped. Still the same scenario.
The design is that a Session Manager Edition is in control of 3945 voice gateways with E1 PRIs connected. Protocol is MGCP.
Does anybody has an idea how to resolve it globally?
Here is an output of the debug isdn q931.

Hi,
The disconnect cause code can be commonly caused by the following :
The switch may not like "3.1khz" and expect to see "speech" the bearer caps
The switch may not like the "Plan and Type"
D8
Incompatible destination
This cause indicates an attempt to connect to non-ISDN equipment. For
example, an analog line.
This cause indicates that the equipment receives a request to establish a
call that has a low layer compatibility, high layer compatibility, or other
compatibility attributes (for example, data rate) that the equipment cannot
accommodate.
This code often appears when the calling device dials the wrong number, and
reaches a non-ISDN device. Therefore, ensure that you dial the correct
number.
This cause can also occur when a a data call is made to a voice number, or a
voice call is made to a number that only supports data. If the number is
correct, check whether the telco has configured their switch incorrectly.

Hi Payal,
thanks for the informational answer.
The problem I see is that the same call scenario with another type of phone (7961, 7962, 7942) works absolutely fine.
So I would suggest that the "Plan and Type" is correct. Also I saw enough calls crossing the gateway to PSTN with "3.1khz", so I would suggest that this also fine.
It definitely relies on the IP-Phone models 9971 with video capability enabled.
The question is how this can be fixed?
Maybe it is also a kind of a bug because the phone or the call manager should notice at least that the call is going out via a E1, so it has to be speech and not video. What do you think ?

Hi,
Did you add bearer-cap speech under the voice ports and do a shut no shut ?
Also i would suggest you contact the provider as the disconnect is sent by them.

Hi,
I encountered this problem that occurs only in video capable phones. Adding bearer-cap speech under voice-port fixed the issue. no need to shut the voice port.

Hi,
Sorry as you've already mentioned that it didn't fixed the issue. Can you post here the whole phone configuration page of the 9971 ip phone?

Hi,
thanks for the answers so far.
I guess I have found now the problem for this.
On the gateway configuration page I found that an option called "Enable G.Clear" is active.
After disabling that for test purposes the call was fine - even without to activate "bearer-cap speech" command ;-)
However, due to problems in the past we need this to be active. The background is that customers will dial in via an ISDN card into a connected Siemens PBX. Don't ask me what the are doing then but this needs to be active :-)
The problem now is how can I do it that I can call PSTN numbers with the 9971 without to deactive the option "Enable G.Clear" ? :s
Any help or advice on this is very appreciated, otherwise I need to contact TAC.
