Hello,
I'm new to VOIP and I have a question. I'm using cat 2690 with Avaya phones. So I'm testing the setup with very basic port configuration.
I have an access vlan and a voice vlan.
From my understanding, I though that the phones needed CDP (or in this case LLDP, because it's an Avaya phone) to learn it's voice vlan so it can tag the packets properly.
To my surprise, after deactivating LLDP on the switch (and I saw the message "No LLDPDU found" on the phone while booting), the phone booted without problem and everything worked.
So my question is, does the switch have some kind of mecanism to recognize and to tag the voice traffic even if the phone doesn't know it's voice vlan ?
Thank you !
